Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen has called it “one of the most important energy projects in our nation’s history”. Plans to install an undersea cable linking the electricity grids of Tasmania and mainland Australia have reached financial close off the back of a record multi-billion dollar commitment from the federal government’s green bank.

ACT
A new state-of-the-art recycling facility for Canberra is another step closer with demolition of the former damaged facility underway. Knocking down the former facility – which shut down at the end of 2022 due to extensive fire damage – will allow the new recycling facility to be built on the same site at Hume.
NSW
Plans to turn an ageing Sydney leagues club into an entertainment precinct are progressing, but there’s been some changes to the original vision.
The New South Wales government has allocated $155 million in funding to undertake pothole and road repair works across regional areas. Key works are underway, with the investment helping to deliver safer roads from Broken Hill to Bega, the NSW government says.

QLD

TAS
The Albanese Government, in collaboration with the Victorian and Tasmanian governments, has reached financial close for Stage 1 of the Marinus Link project, securing $3.8 billion in funding. The milestone marks the final investment decision for one of Australia’s most significant energy infrastructure projects. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,400 jobs and drive $2.4 billion in investment across Tasmania and Victoria.
Potential for four quarries have been included in the approved proposal for a major project on Robbins Island in northwest Tasmania. The four quarries have been approved as part of an approved proposal for the construction and operation of a wind farm with up to 100 wind turbine generators. The project will also include the construction of a bridge between Robbins Island and mainland Tasmania and a wharf as well as the quarries.
Yamba Road at Palmers Channel will be upgraded with $9.98 million from the Albanese and Minns Governments to boost flood resilience. Scheduled for completion by May 2026, the project will raise road levels, reducing closures and protecting local supply routes—vital for Yamba's economy during severe weather events.
